Thought i would introduce myself to the forum, having had to finish work in 2010 and moving to Shropshire just recently i have got the fishing gear out and started many of the fantastic lakes that we have around the local area.

I am currently upgrading my kit to something more modern so expect lots of questions over the coming months.

I like to do all sorts of fishing including big carp, feeder and float fishing.

Tight Lines.

Welcome aboard.

Don't be in a rush to modernise your tackle, especially if your rods are going to spend hours sitting in rests.
My two deadbait rods are Sportex Hormseas, circa mid 1960's and Ive never found a reason to update them.

Modern float rods are good but my original 12' Normark is just as light and responsive as the present day options so new isn't always better.

And how many of us are still using March Aerials........:D

* incidentally I recently did some comparative measurements on early '60's hooks and the wire thickness was equal to todays offerings

However todays mono/nylon is streets ahead.

Have fun.
