I've got myself some mussels and I am going to try them out tomorrow.

Would some one be good enough to tell me the best way to use them please.

What I mean is,can Iput them on a hair-rig, they don't seem to be any good for that.Is there a way of doingit? I'm not sure about a band, it doesn't kind of look right to me.

Is it best just putting them straight on the hook, In which case can I still cast 100ft plus and geta good enough take to hook the fish by striking ?

we used them years ago at Cuttle Mill, an excellent bait, but this was in the days before hair rigs were invented and it was only for short range stuff, many freshwater mussle are protected though jimbo and not often used these days. However we use to use them straight on the hook with the hook standing proud. I can remember fishing next to dave plummer once and he was doing well on them but losing a few also

Thanks The Monk, I got these from these from the supermarket. I don't think they are freshwater. Shouldn't matter should it ?
