My old Avons are getting a bit tired and the needle sticking. Time to retire them.

What is todays equivalent? They need to go 40lb and in 1oz intervals.

I use Reuben Heatons, can recomend them if you like dials.

There is a thread elsewhere on digi's. I have no experience of them, it seems that you either love them or hate them. Very honest and experienced anglers on both sides of the argument.

If you are unable to find a replacement that twists your lemon, and you have time to do some searching, there was an informative thread some time ago that gave the details of how to get your Avons properly serviced.

Answer......service them yourself.

Take the small screws out of the sides and lift off the back cover, wash the gearing with a little petrol taking care not to get it into the dial.

Allow the petrol to evaporate completely, re-oil with 3in1 or similar (not WD40 :eek:mg:) especially the fine/resetting/adjustment knob.
Reassemble and recalibrate with a few known weights, ie; bags of sugar etc.

Job done.......simples

Low cost and you know for next time.....:D
