Not ponds or lakes Jack, but I had a holiday in Loddon a couple of years ago and fished the River Chet (free fishing up to it's junction with the Yare). It's tidal but not a huge range of flow. I was amazed at the size of the perch I was catching on simple waggler and blockend feeder tactics using red maggots and lob tails. Many fish over the two pound mark with the best at 2lb 9oz. Not huge I grant you but I was not targetting them specifically. Fish the left bank from the boatyard downstream. It seems very undisturbed by anglers, except in the town, and I reckon could hold some very big stripeys indeed.

The Ouse seems to be producing quite a few at the moment, Ely down as far as Denver.
