What do you need it for.

Roving on a river moving from swim to swim or say fishing a stillwater from one swim for the full session.

Oh boy I really am the chair “master” I have gone through loads of the bloody things…seat boxes, deck chairs, sun loungers etc… my first proper fishing chair was an original JRC one with a canvas cover…I had it for years until I tied my brolly to it one windy day and got up for a pee and watched it fly off into the middle of the river…you only do that once I can tell you !

Since then I have gone through all the usual foldy/recliny type things and never really got on with any of them….too heavy, too bulky, no arm rests, too low etc etc. I now use a fold up directors type chair…its really good and very light but does not have adjustable legs. For very short roving sessions I have actually started to use a tiny fold up stool like a throw back in time …I must look like some kind of insane garden gnome but it weighs less than a kilo and avoids me having to sit in the mud on a mat.

Why cant anyone make a chair with 4 adjustable legs, arm rests, high sitting position and high back that weighs less than 3kg and folds into a long thin sausage so you could get it in say a holdall…. and I don’t mean those camping type chairs that sag when you sit in them. I want a firm base to sit on not a floppy cocoon. I don’t need a recliner and I am happy to substitute strength for lightness…I don’t intend to jump up and down on it or perch my pet elephant on it which I suspect you could probably do with some of the metal monsters out there. It just needs to hold my sitting weight that’s all…..how hard can it be to get something like that ? Anyone know of something ?

BothBryan , my work is somtimes very physical,i am a builder, so when i get home from work somtimes i like to go fishing and relax, so just chuck the kit in the back of my tipper and go. At weekends i still would apreciate light kit as there is so much to explore around here. 36 hectare lake and hardly ever another person to be seen! so a light practical chair is a must.

Trty the Korum lightweight and if needed the ruckbag. I find it a little clumsy for roving and the bag is a little large but for a full day session it is ideal.

Korum chair looks good but no arm rests and 4Kg (I know I am toofussy)

However if you cant find an angling chair that works for you and you live in Francethentake a look in Decathlon and Go Sport. I got the directors chair I mentioned from there and they still do them from time to time. Its really good...better than any "angling" chair I have ever seen so far but not adjustable legs which is a bummer.

Phillip, what i meant was with all your ideas and experience of chairs , you would be a good candidate for heading a design concept! Your suggestion Decathlon is something that i am able to look into , thanks.

Hi bleak, I am in the market for exactly the same thing, (i don't live in UK either). Trying to find something close to the much lauded but sadly departed Nash Nomad. To date I have come up with Chub Lo Lite and JRC specialist both with adjustable legs and 3.5Kg. Bit heavier than I was looking for so will be reading the reviews posted on this thread with interest.

I do agree by the way that it is really irriating when chairs are advertised as "low weight" but no actual weight is given. In these cases I just assume they are probably at least 4kg and ignore them!

Hello Andy, i am coming to the conclusion that the campers are 'light' years ahead of the fishing fraternity when it comes to design and cost of the kit that keeps us comfy,so that is where i shall be looking.

Hi bleak, let me know how you get on. What I have foundwith camping chairs (v. little research mind) is that they are a bit saggy. I should like something not too low with a fairly straight back so that I can get out of it fairly quickly and not spend the next 15 mins walking around doubled up/forum/smilies/crying_smiley.gif
