Oh boy I really am the chair “master” I have gone through loads of the bloody things…seat boxes, deck chairs, sun loungers etc… my first proper fishing chair was an original JRC one with a canvas cover…I had it for years until I tied my brolly to it one windy day and got up for a pee and watched it fly off into the middle of the river…you only do that once I can tell you !
Since then I have gone through all the usual foldy/recliny type things and never really got on with any of them….too heavy, too bulky, no arm rests, too low etc etc. I now use a fold up directors type chair…its really good and very light but does not have adjustable legs. For very short roving sessions I have actually started to use a tiny fold up stool like a throw back in time …I must look like some kind of insane garden gnome but it weighs less than a kilo and avoids me having to sit in the mud on a mat.
Why cant anyone make a chair with 4 adjustable legs, arm rests, high sitting position and high back that weighs less than 3kg and folds into a long thin sausage so you could get it in say a holdall…. and I don’t mean those camping type chairs that sag when you sit in them. I want a firm base to sit on not a floppy cocoon. I don’t need a recliner and I am happy to substitute strength for lightness…I don’t intend to jump up and down on it or perch my pet elephant on it which I suspect you could probably do with some of the metal monsters out there. It just needs to hold my sitting weight that’s all…..how hard can it be to get something like that ? Anyone know of something ?
