Could you catch carp with it, yes. Is it suitable for putting on an out and out carp rod? Not really, no.

The TDR is a match reel. In the bigger sizes for feeder fishing and the smaller for float.

The SS2600 is generally considered as a specialist or light/short range carping reel.

What sort of rod are you going to use the reel with? What methods are you intending to use and on what type of venue?

Depends on the venue, size of fish, method used and rod I'm putting them on. I have a pretty decent number of reels to choose from though. In your shoes, I'd probably plump for a baitrunner in one of the smaller sizes, but not mini-baitrunners. Something like a Shimano 5000/6000 sized reel or the Daiwa equivalent.

Shimano Baitrunner ST RB Reels | BobCo Fishing Tackle, Leeds

(buy from Bobco before the sale ends and you should get another 20% off)

All my reel caught fish - carp up to around 14 lb , tench up to 6 or 7 , were raken on two identical reels each worth about six quid.

The furthest I cast is about forty metres.

Hi Shane,

I haven't any experience of Mr Nash's shorter rods but he claims they behave as do their longer brothers. In that case Sam is spot on above. A 6000 Shimano Baitrunner or eqivilent should match up perfectly well as is designed for Carp fishing. You shouldn't shred the gears!

Good luck, I'd be interested to hear how you get on with the Scope.
