Anybody interested in a days fishing on the Thames.

I belong to a syndicate that fishes in the grounds of Carmel college. Down stream of Wallingford. If you google it, the boundaries are from the road bridge to the golf course . Approx 40 swims.

I have gained permission to invite some FM members for a days fishing, Have a coffee and put some faces to screen names.

Unfortunately there will be a £5 day ticket charge, but you can drive to your swim.

Looking at the weekend of 21st/22nd February. If interested return post here..

Cheers Andy

As ever, can't do Saturdays*, but well up for the 22nd

Looks like a decent venue well worth the proverbial fiver in a heartbeat.

* though thinking about it this gives enough advance notice for me to try and book a days holiday if it has to be the Saturday - and even perhaps a night in a Pub or B&B if there's the support for a two dayer ??

Hi Andy

I would like to come along, if that is OK.

I like the Thames and a new area would make a nice change.

Could you give us some info on what species and what the fishery is like?

Tight lines,

Keith

Hi Keith.

All the usual species associated with the Thames.
These are what i know
Chub over 6lb. Roach 2-10. Perch 2-12. Dace 15oz. Eel 4-12. Pike 17-12. Bream 11-02

What is rumored.
Chub over 9lb. Pike to 29. Perch to 4. Carp to high 30s but these are very nomadic and turn up now and again. There have only been a few barbel caught in the last few seasons.

It is quite easy for a 30lb net of silver fish in the late Summer/ early Autumn on the float but i cant comment on the winter fishing for them as i move on to other species in october.

Hope this helps

Andy

Bank heights vary along the stretch from waters edge to about 3ft above water. Its very easy fishing and no walking involved. I will pencil you in. Good luck with the check up...:)

Hi Andy

Looking forward to it.

I shall probably have a day on the float for silvers.

See you there.

If there is a spare place I would love to come too.

It will be great to put a few faces to names.

I'll probably also have a day on the float after silvers like Keith.

If anyone has the Post Code (for the SatNav) it would be a great help.

Thanks

Keith
