hi all. i heard someone talking about these fish finder things that can be used on lakes. ive been told you cast the fish finder out with your rod. any one know what these are?

I have used sonar devices made by Lowrance which map out and give the contours of the lake bottom. They also pinpoint fish.

They save an enormous amount of time and fuel when you are fishing very large waters. I have fished lakes over 100 miles in length in my life.

You mean Smartcasts..? One tip, if you buy one attach a wire trace to it, as believe it or not pike have been known to grab them while being retrieved.

I daren't say who provided me with this tip, other than he found it out the hard way.
