Fishing around Boscombe pier-Suitable rods?

Hi all,
I'm off soon to fish around Boscombe along the pier and beach and I'm in need of a new rod as all I have are carp rods. I'm looking at the Daiwa 2 piece seahunter x mackerel spinning rod or the daiwa seahunter x bass rod. Can anyone give their opinion on these rods and if they'll be suitable. I'm only going to be casting a short distance.

There's no big surf there and no rough ground and you will probably not catch very many massive fish so no need for heavy tackle. I think you would be fine with your carp rods!
