I need a pair to match my 1.25tc avon rods. After something small and light as I might be holding the rod all day while float fishing, but also to use at night on buzzers.
Any suggestions?

Just to back up Skippy, I have not tried the daiwas but really like my shimano 2500s which I bought initially for use on a 1lb tc barbel rod.

Shimano Xt2500FA for me, as long as you don't mind double handles when floatfishing.

I team mine with a Fox Duo-Lite specialist (ard014) and newly acquired Darent Valley specialist rods.

Cheers for the replies guys.

The Shimanos are a bit out of my price range, but the Daiwas look good.
I'll try and find somewhere local that has them to have a look :)

There are two Shimano 2500 baitrunners that cost substantially less than the top of the range X Aero FA.

:eek::eek: :eek:

I tried a 2500 sized reel on my DV rod and I thought it was just a gnat's on the small side. I think a 3000 might suit it better,depending on the reel and what you're doing of course.

I believe 2500 and 3000 sized Shimano reels are the same size and only vary in line capacity.

S-kippy is talking about the Daiwas. Besides, it's immaterial, Shimano don't make a 3000 (or 5000) sized baitrunner. 2500, 4000, 6000, 8000 and 10000 (model depedant).

:confused: I've got a Shimano 5000 baitrunner.

Me too. It was advertised as a limited edition, So wether it was end of run or what I don't know .
Nice little reel though
I also have two of the 2500 baitrunners, One has a single handle, And the other has a double handle.
I like them a lot
