I've applied in the past but not had any tickets... they say that selection is random, yet it seems that all the top guys seem to get tickets over and above the rest, (go figure) I've been and watched a couple of finals and the retail village is a fun place to have a look around, although some of the sellers are taking the p*ss with their prices (captive audience and all that) there are other big money finals to try for, the Maver Match This series and the ParkDean Masters to name a couple of others....

My wife's cousin's hubby (Chris VanDerVleit) got to the final a couple of years ago.... he says that getting there is the hardest part... on the day you just fish to your plan, if the fish are there, you can win, if they ain't, you won't..... he came 12 or 14th so for him it didn't work, but he said had a great time

Re: fish o mania

more specialist and pleasure on this forum than match anglers - look on match fishing scene or maggotdrowning for people for participate in Fisho I would think?

Anyway - the ticket allocation for fisho is easy to understand ... there's a "veterans club" for former winners and anglers who've supported the competition since the early days .... who are guaranteed up to 5 tickets to venues of their choice. After that it's a random draw. Veterans club members can apply for additional above their 5 guaranteed, but willl be under the random draw for those. Looking at the ticket lists - I'd say that the vets club tickets are approx 10 to 12 on each qualifier (ie. 10% or less).

personally - given that I don't fish commercials, then Riverfest is the far more appropriate competition for me. I will be entering that, but due to popularity it's random ticket allocation as well, so I don't know how many qualifiers I might be lucky to get.
