If you caught a record mini species...

Would you claim it?

I can say I'm devoid of all shame and would proudly do so.

But what if you bagged that 1oz minnow, 5oz bleak, 6oz ruffe or 6oz gonk???

I must confess that with the exception of a huge gudgeon, I would not even know that it was a record.

Would I claim it? Probably not.

Are you thinking how it might look in January attached to two sets of trebles? :D

The thought never crossed my mind :wh

I'd probably not give them a second thought. I wouldn't be at all surprised if I've chucked loads of (near) record minnows back in the past. A few of the North East rivers have hordes of minnows and every few years they grow that bit bigger than normal. There's also a chance that the bullhead record would be possible from a few of the more northerly Pennine rivers.

I actually have some scales (from another hobby) capable of weighing the mini species quite accurately. However, I can't ever imagine carrying them or claiming for a record. I'm not entirely certain I'd claim a river or national record if I were to ever come close to being able to.
