Problem is Steve we will never know.

They no doubt swam away strong but it would be any ones guess if they survived. We all know they can turn belly up later.

With regards to the pic its not very good as there is no structure to it.

"Where can I get a pink unhooking mat like that?"

Greg,

I thought they were a freebie with the Anglers Mail . . . . . only a few seasons ago too, didn't you get yours?

[insert smiling thing, cos' this was a joke, much like that awful picture!]

"Be good for a gudgeon bag shot!"

But, would such a shot make it into the weeklies?

It would be good to see a decent haul of gudgeon, not seen any for years, sadly. Lovely game little fish that they are.

I don't have a problem with them being kept in a keepnet (how else would they be retained for this photo), in fact by the look of his total disregard for the fishes wellbeing at least they had a chance to recover becauseit would seem he is the sort that would throw them straight back without taking the usual precautions. I wouldn't mind betting these were tipped straight back after the photos were taken too, not that they were worth photographing in the first place.

The fish being on the grass isn't much of a problem either but the ones on the piece of cloth are liable to lose some of their protective layer.

The mans a muppet quite obviously and one the angling world can do without, perhaps he might considercliff jumping for his sport..

They wouldn't last long enough to be in a bag shot Peter, I'd be trotting them under a float for perch faster than you could shout, " That's a nice bag of gudgeon you've got in you Mail hat Greg"!

Wind up or not, shots like this shouldn't be in the FM gallery, they could be easily used against us.

Was the pic moderated or was it downloaded from a photo bucket?

I still think it's very dangerous letting pics go live with no moderation!

It would still bother me mate. No fish needs to be out of the water for more than a few minuutes at the most.

Playing devils advocate......... (not a good photo I agree)

Who says they've been out of the water for more than a few minutes?

Whats the problem?

Keepnet - I don't have a problem with if used sensibly

No Unhooking mat - I don't have a problem with (although usually use one myself), again if one isn't needed

I agree the towel isn't the best thing to lay them on.

Regarding the the old 'fueling the antis' argument. Show them a photo of any fish/angler and they will always hate it and find an argument against it. Show it to a non-angler and they will think its a picture of some fish??

The only people who are 'hyper sensitive' to a photo like that are anglers themselves.

Which is to our credit and proof, if any were needed, that we need to manage and regulate our own. A little education would go a long way towards improving the sport's profile.

We do seem to be attracting more than our usual share of trolls and idiots. This seems to have become worse since the site has not had Graham's full attention. There also seem to be a few technical problems that have not been attended to.

I agree totally.

I cansee the photo is poor, and education is a good thing. I am though againstthe 'lynch mob' within our ranks that jump on photos such as this and want the angler executed without trial..............................Just read some of the opening posts............................../forum/smilies/eye_rolling_smiley.gif
Ray Roberts wrote (see)

We do seem to be attracting more than our usual share of trolls and idiots.
