Many years ago it was not only acceptable to kill stuff and display specimen fresh water fish it was also fashionable. Thank goodness we no longer do it.
However I have seen very good copies of fish made of various materials. Does anyone know where to find them or good paintings?:)

I've seen the sort of thing you mean but they are very hard to find. Fish paintings dont always do it for me but I do like David Millers work.

Personally...I'd have no qualms about having a fish set up BUT it would have to be a very special fish indeed. If I ever get a really big sea trout I'll have it done and damn the expense but before anybody starts I have no desire to have a coarse fish set up no matter how big it might be.

Mind you...faced with actually killing a big sea trout I'm not convinced I could. I'll take one for the table happily but a trophy fish is different. Have to be very, very special.

Looking in at the proper vintage fishing tackle auctions (and no, not flea-bay) you will see that a good specimen fish, coarse, or Game can fetch very large sums indeed.

As for fish paintings or drawings then see if you can find any of John Searl's work, in my opinion he was the best angling artist around; sadly missed now though.

I have bought and sold several bits of taxidermy, some from live auctions and some from ebay.
There are some great bargains to be had on ebay but you can never be 100% certain of what you are buying until you have had a chance to inspect it first hand.

Ebay can also be a good place to sell as you have a global marketplace but as a vendor specialist auctions do seem to command higher prices.
If you do buy from a specialist auction please remember the costs are considerably higher than ebay, both for the seller and the buyer.
