fishing with pellets

so is it better to use pellets in a pellet band,hair rig or a lass-oo ( by middy)when would u use each of these and why? also soft hard or jelly pellets? I'm jus looking to catch fish over 1lb as im getting fed up with small silver fish that rarely pull back.

also I know that ta fishing had a video where they mentioned this but I can't seem to find it so a link to that would be ideal
