Havn't fished there for years but the weir on the LAA section is where I caught my first barbel. There used to be good bags of roach in the weir too.

Around 6 or 7 years ago we had some matches on Appleford. I had some nice bags of small roach quite close in on stickfloat. The matches were however generally won by the same angler who was casting a big maggot feeder tight across to the opposite bank. The chub he caught were all 5lb+...
At this time of year the flow will be minimal and the boat traffic fairly heavy so closer in tactics may be easier. There are some nice beach swims there and if you locate the shelves beyond the gravel the fish are often sitting right there....
Oh and I seem to recall you don't like cows....:wh

Fished below the weir once on the L.A.A ticket and whilst we had no bream we did have loads of good dace and I have a nice pic of my dad fishing with his floppy hat on - not that that's relevant.

Plenty of Bream there though like most the Thames. Crack on give it a go :)

HI PETER
I don't know what you mean I love cows they use to push me out of there
way when I was fishing a backwater of the Shannon in Ireland we get on fine may just bag up on the dace/roach if no bream show after a couple of hours
thanks again
