When a size is quoted for a landing net, what does it refer to e.g. if a net is quoted as say 60cm, what measurement is that? If they were circular there would be no doubt, but they are usually oval or triangular. Does it refer to the the distance from the tip of the handle straight ahead to the furthest point of the net frame, the width of the net at its widest point, or something else?

I have 2 oval nets 22"match net & 30"specimen both the measurement of these is from the screw in block end to the tip of the net,

The 22" oval net measurements length 22" width 19"

But the net i have for pike is 38" triangle and that measurement is across the net (width)

Thanks for the replies. I was about to order a landing net from a catalogue and wanted to make sure I ordered the right size for me.
