use of rods

When coarse fishing the reel is always underneath the rodbut on sea/shore fishing rods its on top, i was just wondering why??

Multipliers for much of the sea fishing.

Just the way they work.

These days, with line laying devices, there is no compelling reason for the multiplier to be use on top of the rod.

However, as usual, like any other human, the sea angler tends to adhere to tradition, when it was necessary to manually lay line into the reel. It was, in those days, essential to have the multiplier on top.

Sorry Bob that's wrong,

A multiplyer is controlled during casting by the thumb on top of the spool. It would be most difficult to control these reels with the forefinger. As a result we fish a multiplyer on top of the rod.

There is certainly no disadvantage by doing so.
