Afternoon All
I have just purchased a Drennan Series 7 Specialist Avon Quiver rod and am looking forward to my first foray into quivertip fishing. The rod comes with two glass tips rated at 2oz and 3oz. Now this may seem a daft question but how do I choose which tip to use? I'm assuming its dependant on the weight of the feeder/bomb I am using? Any pointers or advice would be greatly appreciated. I will be using the rod on Stillwaters.
Cheers
Adam

In still waters you would use the lighter tip most of the time for bite detection unless you were using a method type feeder when the bites are much more obvious.
The strength of the tip has no bearing on the weight you are casting and if I was using that rod in still water I would invest in another tip probaby the 1oz version as all standard Drennan or Daiwa old style tips will fit.

Good question to which I don't feel qualified to reply. However this might be better asked in the coarse fishing sub forum rather than this one although I'm sure you'll still get replies.
Does it come with a non quiver, avon top as well or just the quiver top?

the weight of the quivertip is dependant on the species you are targeting.... use the lightest tip for smaller shyer biting fish the stronger tip for bigger fish.... see if you can get a lighter tip 1 or 1.5 oz for bream/roach

Many thanks for the quick responses. It does come with a standard avon tip but I will certainly look to invest in a lighter tip as I do intend to target Roach and Bream.
