Some of you may know, some may not, Fox have been bought out.

The Big Rip Off has started, the price of Fox gear has gone up by around 10%.

Just to top it off, they have cut the margins the tackle shops make on the products.

Its a take take win for the new company, who's name i don't know, and don't really care.

It won't bother me as i am not a lover of Fox tackle, the only thing i did have was a shelter, and that has long gone.

I only wish anglers could get their own back, by not buying any of their products, sadly that won't happen.

Fox was always over priced IMO, it is even more now.

Not really noticed ?

I still use their alarms, the Supa Brolly is excellent, Bedchair is good, the Pike gear was good and the Old Twin tip Barbel rod take a lot of beating.

So will have to wait and see, but I think of a lot worse companies than Fox ?

Bob, your right about the supa brolly, had the twin tip, wasn't for me, and there are far worse companies than fox, but this isn't Fox anymore.

Keep well Bob speedy recovery

From the Matrix website About Us tab: About Us | MATRIX
There’s not a day that goes by when tens of thousands of anglers across the globe go fishing armed with a variety of products from the Fox International portfolio.

With the Fox, Matrix, Specialist, Predator and Fox Rage brands covering disciplines such as carp, Match, coarse, traditional predator and modern lure fishing, Fox International is firmly established as one of the leading tackle manufacturers in Europe.

The company originates from Essex, UK, where Cliff Fox (who is still today a substantial investor) launched his first ever Fox International angling product – a metal ruler showing size limits of certain species of fish caught in UK matches (when anglers had to fish to a set of size limit rules).

I didn't think I still had much if any Fox kit but I have just made up the pike/zander gear ready for tomorrow and both my deadbait rods are Fox (and I rate them) along with the Fox Royale rucksack (I rate that too) which I've just stuffed a load of gear into.

If ever I were to miss anything from Fox it wouldn't be their reels.

I used to like some of their Evolution stuff from about 10-15 years ago - so well made then and I have still got a medium carryall and coolbag in very good condition that I use regularly..............

Aren't Matrix a Fox brand ?

I depends on what Matrix you are talking about.

Matrix buzz bars, sticks etc etc, are part of Johnson Ross Tackle Hoddesdon.

I once had a fox bits and bait bag, rubbish. But it's like all tackle, you get good and bad no matter who makes it. I also had the MMX alarms, the old school, very good, then i sold them and got the new one's, what a mistake, they soon went.

I've also got a Fox Specimen Float rod that lives out of sight as it's appalling, as are the two Stratos 10000e baitrunners that still remain in a drawer in many pieces after self destructing some time ago, probably at the thought of the stresses that underarming a 2oz roach deadbait a good five yards can cause

....as was the Barbel Extreme Float rod that I bought maybe ten years ago; a rod that's probably capable of pulling tree stumps where a tractor has failed to do so. I mentioned previously that the test curve probably approached that of a carp rod and still maintain that it's the truth. A beast, but unfortunately a badly-balanced beast, which is ridiculous when you consider it was designed for trotting. Surely it can't be too hard to design a float rod with decent balance?

In fairness, I'm happy with the Fox gear I still have - a pair of Avon Duos, a Duo-Lite Specialist and a Kevlar Barbel. I also had a rather nifty Envoy feeder rod until it was Binka'd when I fell on it - the Envoy range of rods was pretty good, I thought (didn't Andy little have his dabs on those?) I like my Explorer bivvy, too, and a big predator spoon net that's passed the test of time.

Fox have made some good stuff over the years, and some utter tosh, but generally they have been pretty dependanble over the years. Can't say I own much fox stuff apart from a few alarms, and a load of lures I don't want.

Now it's sold out to an equity firm they will maximise profits by all means. That often means trimming the business and could mean certain ranges/items disappear. Who knows what will ultimately happen but if the Partner views anglers as simple cash cows they can shove it for me...

From the Telegraph article:
"Kunal Dasgupta, Mr Sasaki’s partner at Mayfair, added that anglers were very “swag conscious” and liked to have matching branded equipment".

Glad I hung onto my original Fox Reps now.. they might be worth a small fortune soon! :D

I never perceived Fox International as a premium brand, more one of those brands that tried to cover many bases, some successfully, others less so.

I do use their pike floats and predator terminal kit, they also sell decent unhooking tools.

Their shockingly bad PS drop off alarms will not be missed nor mourned!!
