Read Rod Sturdy's open letter to Elizabeth Truss MP, Dept. of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Again, we're in danger of having our wandering streams and rivers uniformly 'canalized' - and for what? Rod contends that upstream dredging will make matters downstream far, far worse in times of heavy rainfall.

Thanks for that link Crow - i hadnt caught that in the news. He is arguing that the EA has spent too long balancing the needs of flood protection against the needs of nature. I thought the better informed view was to work with nature, but then i forgot this was going to be the greenest government ever!

I am so tired of ignorant politicians (on all sides) their petty squabbles and the way their decisions reflect blind allegiance to various pressure or interest groups that undermines dealing with any issue on the basis of what is actually best for society. They are completely unfit for purpose.
