You are probably needing to go north onto the higher reaches of the Yorkshire rivers or west onto the upper Dove or Derwent valleys to stand a realistic chance of catching them. Grayling outside southwest of England Avon, Stour, Frome, etc are confined generally to the hillier areas and rivers the more north you get.
Matlock Bath is a good bet, a very good grayling stretch of the Derwent and day tickets are available from the newsagents beside The Fish Pond pub which is on the main drag across from the river...
