I well remember reading this the first time around, and it has not diminished in sentiment in the 10 years or so that have passed.

A very nice piece Kevin . . . . .

Fred's Classic book "Pike" was my bible when I first started Pike fishing, I bought a small paper back well thumbed version of it.

I also bought a soft back version of his Doomsday book of Mammoth Pike when it was first published too.

I still have both of these books in my bookcase.

Unknown to me Fred had a shop less than 10 miles away from where I live, I only wish I'd have known this, as I would have bought all of my Pike gear from his shop and picked his brain at the same time LOL.

Fred was a very knowledgable and well respected pike angler who will be sorely missed.

Thanks Kevin, enjoyed that. Apart from his books I also remember Chubbs well as it was the t/s I used (along with Youngs of Harrow) , after Jim Bruce Snr closed his shop in Ealing.
