Re: Thames Water (That's THAMES WATER) fined £380K for polluting Bucks stream

Shock Horror, that couldn't be the same Thames Water that has been fined dozens of times before for polluting waterways could it surely, I would have thought that the previous fines would have been enough to stop them doing it again oh just remembered its their customers that will pay when it should be the directors paying.

Never mind they are big sponsors of the Angling Trusts much vaunted River Fest matches so that makes it all ok doesn't it? does it b0!!0(ks its a disgrace, have Fish Legal ever taken them to court?

This from the article

The Recorder of Aylesbury, His Honour Judge Sheridan, noted that if it wasn't for the fisheries survey the incidents were unlikely to have come to light due to the unacceptable level of management failures at the site.

How many other times have they got away with it?

The court placed on record the company's commitment to improving its environmental performance and noted that it could face significantly higher fines in future if it did not stay true to its word.
Had it placed on record (the court that is) that it was minded to hold to account an Area Director with a possible term of imprisonment if it wasn't true to it word.
Perhaps might have been more cogently understood by TW and the fat cats that run it. Nothing like a threat to a term in stir to focus the mind in the boardroom of the directors.

Onwards and upward boys to the next one, laughing all the way to your bonus and heaping the cost of the fines onto the mugs, sorry, customers eh!

It might also be helpful if members of this site also posted a link on their Facebook page of this fine. Just maybe it might go viral and TW really get the message through the bad PR it attracts.
It's already on mine ;):)

. . you'd think that the Angling Trust might also get the damned message and stop them from sponsoring angling events?

Its an incredibly crass thing to do and to repeat the same mistake year after year while at the same time using victories gained by Fish Legal as PR to attract new members only shows that they think anglers lack the intelligence to see through them.
