...I have been fishing the same commercial venue. I know there are plenty of other places to fish but I like the secure and friendly atmosphere of the place. One advantage of my chosen venue is that it has ten lakes and ponds to choose from. all of these are different. There are a couple of specialist species lakes. One is picturesque and is ideal for overnighters. The other is similar, slightly smaller in area but with some very deep swims. These lakes have equipment specifications and are intended for experienced anglers. Needles to say I have not fished these lakes yet.

There is another lake that holds big fish as a sort of stepping stone lake to get some experience in catching the larger specimens before having to deal with really big fish.

I have fished only five of the lakes so far and even fishing the same lake from a different peg can be like fishing in an entirely different venue. Am I alone in this? I think I could easily spend another couple of years fishing the lakes at this venue without getting bored.

It is also an easy drive from where I live in S.E. London and I can usually park very close to the peg, something I prefer as I do not have a proper trolley - yet.

Ralph :)

Why change?

Carry on! If you are content with your venue then why change? I keep trying my clubs waters and some are good others indifferent. I am also happy when I am the only one there! Am I antisocial?

Natural lakes and ponds are different to commercials however and you have to accept that.

I fish a couple of day ticket stretches of river, only being able to fish Sundays, on a regular basis, I doubt I will ever have sufficient time to even fully master all of these swims. I'm still contemplating whether to renew my BAA ticket as this opens up miles of river I have no chance of totally "learning". If you're happy with your fishing, then that's all that really matters.

I don't want to change. It is just that others seem to fish lots of different venues, I was just beginning to wonder if I was alone in enjoying fishing a single venue.

I can't see me having enough time to get bored with this venue, let alone using others so regularly. I do fish other venues bit I keep going back to my usual place, it is like old slippers, I assume...

...it's comfortable :)

If your happy there don't change at all.

It's all down to what suits you at the end of the day.

I think I know the commercial you mentioned, if it is then its the best commercial I ever fished and tried many during one period of my fishing. Fished it a lot over a period of about 5 years and if I had to choose one place to fish for the rest of my life it would be a contender.

Same here I mainly stick to one fishery nowadays, it's handy to get to, not far to walk to any of the lakes, and very peaceful and quite, it used to be a commercial but the owner changed it to members only a few years ago.

Been a member here since last year, still getting to know it, I'm the same it will do me for all my Stillwater fishing, I love the place.

Sounds to me like you only need change lakes whenever you get the notion that the grass is greener elsewhere.
If you are enjoying it you're winning. Be grateful your not one of the tortured souls who have to be winning to enjoy it.

If you're still enjoying it, stick with it. I've done the same thing - either sticking at it until I've cracked whatever self-set challenge was on offer or when I felt like a change. Nowt wrong with that - some places are magical and lure you back time after time.

Ralph.

Anglers are mostly itinerant if you prefer to stay at one venue then it will save you a load of money in fuel.
I stick to one venue with a number of ponds like you but in the past I enjoyed moving around.
Do what makes you comfortable if you're happy with what you do that's 90% of life, the other 10% is don't let the barstewards grind you down.
Enjoy your fishing fishplate.
