My guess would be the Bridge Pool, Christchurch. Way beyond my pocket!

The boat pool at Christchurch didn't have a rope across 10 years ago (I think).

Fished the Bridge Pool in Christchurch several times but not in the last 10 years. Never had a cable/rope slung across it that I'm aware of (not even had the punt in it recently - vandalised and out for repairs and reviews).

There was/is another "ferry" type punt at Winkton on the H. Avon just below the weir where the river splits but the river in the image looks too wide.

Surely it can't be one of the most notable cable ferries on the Warwickshire Avon at Hampton can it? Far too well known for that!? mg:

Yes, a fair it too wide for Winkton, . . . . maybe somewhere on the Test?

This was a bit stretching...there are probably rope-ferries across the Hampshire Avon other than this one at BISTERNE.
