Polish perch underwater

Interesting behaviour in that first clip.

I witnessed something similar back in the summer when I lowered a hooked bleak into a shoal of quite big perch, I reckon they were a good dozen and a half in number and they just took turns as they bashed into the bleak without showing any real intention of snaffling it.

I wonder if it's just general inquisitive behaviour or whether it's when they're not really that hungry and an easy meal comes along where the strike instinct kicks in as an automatic reaction before the brain tells the fish it's not really that hungry?
