I visited a local lake this week hoping to fish it at the weekend, there are notices up saying there has been cases of Koi herpes virus found there, I spoke to the owner of the lake he said some fish had died but there is still plenty of fish in there.
Is it OK to go fishing there or should it be avoided until it is disease free?

To forewarn others who might travel there unknowingly, are you able to give the lake location??

It totally depends when the out break occurred, if it's been a few weeks since it's probably ended.
It's not a infection that's treated, the infection is left to subside naturally. If there has been no dead fish recently then it's probably OK. Aston Park was safe to fish after about ten days.
To spread the word after the infection has subsided is not a good move to me.
The EA clears the water open to fish not the owner.
If there was any threat of infection still there the EA would prevent the owner from opening the water.

I wont name the lake it is shown on the link posted by Sam, the lake was closed for about 2 weeks, since it reopened the owner has put in dip tanks for net's.
If the infection subsides naturally will checks be made to give the all clear by the EA?
