I think it's a Gibel carp - a French cousin of the Crucian. (La Carassine?)

Anyone agree?

I wouldn't disagree with you! Could be an F1 or other hybrid ! Nice fish though!

I agree with greenie. I have caught lots of them in France. They look like crucians but are more silvery than golden.
They don't seem to give as difficult bites as crucians. I have had them trotting in quite swift water. The Rhone is full of them.

Most people in France I think would tell you its a Carassin which is basically a Crucian Carp.

However I think yours is more likely a Prussian Carp given the scale count on the lateral line and general apperance.
