Over twenty but that includes salmon rods both fly and spinning, trout fly rods, carp rods, barbel rods, and general coarse rods, Ie float and tip rods.

One thing with having all these, the wife doesn't notice a new rod the same.its one more among many.
Still got the first rod I bought some fifty odd years ago.

I am a positive minimalist compared to some of the tarts on here, the place is festooned with 'em :wh :wh :wh

A dozen just about covers everything for me and I don't tend to hang on to stuff that doesn't get used, I just spread what's left out further :)

Three Avons, two tip rods, three float rods, a couple of deadbait rods, a couple of spinning rods and that's about it.

Now...

On the slightly different question of how many rods would I like?

How long ya got? :D

Probably less than a dozen anything not used gets sold on.

I did not realise I had so many rods. None are in good condition, all well used and abused. Most are very rarely used now, except for the tip rods and a couple of the float rods. Daft to have so many rods, not worth selling as they are in not the best of condition due to overuse!

I have far too many rods that I have accumulated over the years and reels too.

I have rods that I haven't even used that I bought 'just incase' I ever needed them, and rods that I have only ever used 2 or 3 times over the years that I've had them.

I have a fly rod-n-reel, Poles & various length Whips, at least 7 or 8 float rods of different lengths from 11ft up to 20ft, several Avon rods, Barbel rods, Quivertip rods of various sizes, winkle pickers, around 6 or 7 Carp rods, 4 lure rods from 50grm down to 5grm, a couple of beach rods and around 17 reels of different sizes and types.

My problem is that when I decide to buy a new rod or reel to replace an older rod or reel I still end up keeping the older rod or reel.

It's a waste of time trying to list them all as I will be constantly updating the list to add rods and reels that I had not remembered to list before Lol.

No disrespect to you Keith,as it seems many do it,but what is the point in hoarding loads of stuff, you,ll never gonna use again?..personally id rather sell tackle i no longer use to fund further purchases,If id of kept everything,id have loads of Poles, rods, reels, nets, seatboxes, holdalls, carryalls, etc, etc, all clogging up my garage, wouldnt be able to move...and one day when i die, someone will come along, and either throw it all away,or sell it for themselves;)

If you believe that you aren't a tackle tart because you have comparatively little gear, you are only kidding yourself. I'd actually suggest that with your single premium brand obsession and immaculately laid out tackle store, you are the ultimate TT.;):p

I keep a lot of my older rods just incase one of my grand children or other family members or my friends kids ever decide to take up fishing and need some rods and reels, which has happened in the past, plus I keep a few rods and reels at my holiday home to save having to take them in the car whenever I'm there. But more truthfully I'm just a bit of a hoarder Lol.

I think that In the new year I will start to get rid of a few of my surplus rods and reels especially as I no longer fish matches and don't really need to have such a large variety of rods Lol.

I'm a bit like peterjg, but listing them all would take ages but end to end I reckon they would probably be well over 300 feet long.

I've thought about selling on some of the rods I use least often, but they aren't cult items (for the most part) and won't sell for a great deal, despite being in pretty good nick. I strenuously object to letting a £150 rod go for £20, even if it's only used once in a blue moon, although I'm not averse to the occasional swap, which generally results in a far better deal.
