I really delight in this song by ''Dire Strait's''. The lyrics are outstanding, and in many ways mirror many aspects of life. And dare I say from my perspective ''Angling''. If you're at a loss to understand my meaning, then you haven't ''really'' listened.

Oh yes and the instrumental aspect is equally amazing. Does anyone else associate any other song with fishing for whatever reason?

You do surprise me Derek. That is my favourite Dire Straits track and I can see Mark Knopfler now at a variety of gigs playing it. I had never noticed an angling theme but will relisten with interest

Telegraph Road is one of many terrific songs by Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits . . . . the first few lines are rather apt for many a carp or long stay angler:

"A long time ago came a man on a track
Walking thirty miles with a pack on his back
And he put down his load where he thought it was the best
Made a home in the wilderness"

I'm afraid I cannot stand Dire Straits as I spend too long in them

The theme tune from Blankety Blank often enters my head towards late afternoon :)

On the long fishless tramp back to the car it always seems to be the Roobarb theme music that's playing in my head :eek:mg:

I'm not too keen on tunnel barn farm of love, bit too commercial for me!
