I have a 3 piece carbon fibre net handle which comes with two threaded net sections; (a normal length section plus another 1ft short section which fits over the end) so if you catch a fish that needs an unhooking mat you can unship the short 1ft section and easily bring it to your unhooking mat without getting problems with a handle getting in the way.

Both the normal end section and the abbreviated add-on end section have screw threads so you can still use it if you managed to lose the shorter 1ft end section.

It is made by Drennan but even the tackleshop I bought it from didn't know what model it was.

Another for drennan super specialist ! Wouldn't want a 42" net on end for big carp though

I too have the Drennen 3 metre telescopic which works well but is quite heavy. I also have a 2 metre Maverick Abyss which is very light and fine for smsller fish.

I cannot believe I am actually saying that! Me catching larger fish and needing a stronger and longer landing net handle!;)

I have a 2m Sensor Alligator handle which is both light and slim, and around £10 quid is cheap too.

Garbolino rocket is a brilliant little handle that fits your description perfectly. I was extremely tempted by one myself recently but I wanted a bit extra length! No change there then!

A couple of seasons ago I treated myself to a Trefor West Lone Angler handle, which retails eye-wateringly just over fifty quid. It's brilliant. Over Christmas I netted a nice chub in it way down a steep bank. In my excitement to send a snap of my capture to some mates, I tripped over the handle and completed a triple salchow, axel and lutz (no pike), landing squarely on the handle like Buster Keaton. It remains dead straight. it was like it was made for me.

Don't you find the lone angler pole heavy?

A little heavy, perhaps. But I am so reassured by its robustness, it's worth it.

Another fan of the Drennan specialist twist lock carbon.
After destroying many other handles and seeking advice on here I lashed out for one. It was over an eye watering 40 quid plus ( I think) but 3 years later it is still working well.

It is strong Matt but I have never really had a lump in it(13.5lb) max. I have a float on the end and thus far lift out the lump holding the handle near the net.

Time will tell when I go trotting and need to have it fully extended!

Nearly £50 now John but imo well worth it, it cost nearly as much as one of my barbel rods :D

Not sure what you mean by this, Mike, but for bigger fish you shouldn't be lifting with the handle, instead gripping the inner rim of the net where the screw thread is, and lifting with net and handle almost vertical. Takes all the strain off your valuable carbon.:)

I always draw handle back in and lift via the spreader but what if it's one of those banks where you can sit with feet dangling over edge and your net only just reaches ??? Lift vertically ?

another vote for the Drennan specialist. Not the lightest (or the cheapest) but after a succession of hilarious incidents standing on take apart bog rolls, bit the bullet and shelled out-four years later is still as good as new.

I use a cheap carbon telescopic handle if roaving areas with steep bankings or alkward access. These handles are light and for around a tenner or less it's not a worry if they get broken....although saying that i've been using the same one for several or more years now and it's still appears to be in perfect fettle.
I have the drennan super specialist and one or two other handles but I much prefer to use the cheap telescopic one. One reason is I can just extend it without unscrewing.
