After some recommendations on a new net and handle i dont want to spend a fortune but equally i want it to work and last.

I do general mixed fishing with carp to about 20lb the best.

I use a Drennan super specialist twist lock, certainly not the cheapest but imo they are a very good pole, it should out last me I think. The one I have is the 3 metre one (extended). the net I use is a fox one but I cant remember the name of it sorry.

I have the Drennen as well and so far it has handled dozens of roach to 15 oz with aplomb!;) I have also had carp to 13.5 lb as well:rolleyes:

It feels well made. I have a Dinsmores landing net which is great and cheap and a new Guru 550 net to alternate with when I catch the odd bream;)

Another vote for the drennan handle, had mine for years, never a problem with it.
I have a korum 26 in spoon net on it, it's the latex one, so it doesn't stink the car out.

I can recommend the Gardner twist lock landing pole. I use it with different size of nets ranging from an 18" Drennan specialist net up to a 30" Korum net for Barbel fishing. The landing pole is strong, light and easily adjusted. Bought the Gardner after the Drennan pole adjuster kept seized up and needing a strip down

I can recommend the Gardner twist lock landing pole.

Is that what your Gardner is actually called? The reason for asking is that, as far as I can see, Gardner only seem to do two landing nets at the moment.
One is the Out-Reach (net+pole combo) and the other is the Specialist Extending (pole only).

Is it one of these that you recommend, or is there another?

Yes the Drennan too combined with the Drennan specialist net although I can vouch for the Korum folding nets which are good when you travel light
