I was really pleased to read the account of grayling fishing on the news and features thread, and particularly the endorsement of modern tackle, especially carbon rods.
How lucky and fortunate we are to have modern perfectly made tools for every job in hand, and mostly at a very good price.
The bean pole comment is really good. No harm in folk dressing up in strange clothes with broom stick rods, in a way it's brave, like heading off to a show in morris dancing gear.
But I rejoice each time I use a carbon rod - pure magic.
