My last purchase of hemp last year was about the worst I have had, full of grit and dirt, I tell myself it could have been the last bag from my suppliers bigger bag at the rear of the shop but talking to him the other day he now says that this years supply is dire, so bad that when he preps it prior to boiling it now soaks for two days instead of the usual one and even then it's below par after a good boiling.
His sales have fallen noticably and to keep his customers he now mixes it 50/50 with the giant hemp variety.
I give him full marks for his good intentions but as said earlier days are that the fish just want one size which for me is important to give them what they want --- rather two seperate sizes than a mixed bag
There are two grades apparently, A and B with the A grade stuff going to food/ clothing etx and the B to feeds, maybe bio fuals (???) And, I suppose us anglers at the end of the supply line.
Peter, interesting post regarding hemp prices from Haithes in Grimmy/Cleethorpes, I,ve just googled this years hemp prices---- 35 cents a pound !.
