Hi guys,

I'm looking to catch some good sized Perch.
i know there are some on the Riv er Rother here in Sheffield on the Catcliffe stretch.

So, what baits would I be best using?
I know they eat most things, but I want to best ones to try.

Maggots?
Worms?
PRAWNS?!

Also, what do I want to look out for on the river to find perch?
Over hanging trees, or more open space?

Don't forget you'll need a special perch rod if your serious ;)

A bit off on a tangent but I am not a fan of rigs that use float stops to hold a hooklink in place. There is another one shown in the first link (Micks float rig) although its not a particularly bad example as the weight is a line of shot rather than a heavy lead or feeder.

The problem is that apart from the fact I dont like the way the hooklink and float stop could slide down the line when I hook a fish I also see them as potential tether rigs. If the mainline breaks above the float stop then the fish will be left to drag the lead around with it.

I am surprised the mags publish them.
