Its that time of year again when a lot of us will be spending some time down on the river targeting chub or even a few nice roach? Cheese paste, flake or mashed bread have always been my first choices for said quarry, but this season I'll be using both - in combination!

Some of you may have previously heard of my cheese sandwich?
It involves spreading SAC juice blue cheese on a slice of white, folding it in half, pinching a bit off and forming it around a number 6 hook - struck off at the end of each trot through to help feed the swim. Used in conjunction with liccy bread, it has proven to be quite good. Particularly so in low light and/or turbid conditions. For roach I just use a smaller bit on a smaller sized hook.

Better, I've started using a variation of the above as a nice paste for this season, using both bread and blue cheese in combination which can be moulded around the hook, pellets and cork balls or to plug the ends of a feeder. I'm not really a fan of ledgering except maybe occasionally on lakes using a second rod (tench, carp) and touch ledgering on the river if it freezes the tits off - as long as I can loop a line and keep my hands in my pockets when its too cold to be bothered. But that aside I'll mainly use it on the hook and simply trot it down the river as usual.

I'll be making another big lump or two this week for me and some pals, so hopefully we can sneak out for an hour or two.

Whole pulverised White Bread, Blue Cheese SAC juice (Special edition) and a bit of salt (that's all)
# Long shelf-life (3 months at room temp. or thereabouts)
# Resists freezing
# Stiff but soft in the hand (Ooh er missus!)

Ps. Why does nearly everyone say cut the crusts off bread? Nowt wrong with a bit of crust!!!

If you can't sniff it out Mike - it's not worth finding! But I can't believe that Laguna would make one that did that!
Go get a referral to see an ENT specialist!:D

I have found it ! It comes in a bottle with a secure screw top and thankfully neither the contents nor their aroma can escape!:) My car smells bad enough already and I go through those little tree air fresheners ( new car smell) at the rate of one a week

I not only use Laguna's excellent Blue Cheese additive but also combine a few drops of Butryic Acid, the chub can smell it a mile away, so to people passing by who don't stop for a conversation, double bonus!
