Was able to get out this weekend and glad I did. After an unsuccessful after an unsuccessful attempt earlier this month - redemption weekend did the confidence well.

Interested how you are fishing, looks like a float on the line and maybe a kind of egg fly? Are you trotting it downstream and what make is the centrepin and rod?

Have a friend who goes to Kodiak island for the steelhead, but out of my price bracket.

Fish using a center pin - a Stanton which are no longer made anymore paired with a 12 ft Daiwa noodle rod. Use a bead and salmon roe.

Laguna Aqua-SPAWN is an alternative complete with an embryo (shown in my avatar), it was originally intended for the UK market. It's illegal to use fish eggs here but in Canada and the States I know its very popular, used either in a mesh sack or on the hook in clusters. You can add any flavour, scents and additives to AS as you like, but the main advantage is an unlimited shelf-life compared with real roe.
