The little stream I'm planning to fish in places seems quite tight to use a 13ft rod .

But I have a 11ft Avon rod and a 8ft lightweight lure rod . Would any of these be suitable on a temp basis?

Thanks

Done a few of them been onto Severn twice now . It is a fair drive that's the only drawback so next year I may think about search for a section of the wye closer to home.

Went out on Sat for a morning on the Thames.

With family can't get long sessions in all the time so this is why last few posts about small rivers and trotting. As got a section of the Thames on a club ticket and 2 local small rivers

Could be interesting with a 13ft float rod in the trees

Lure rod was given it says 5 - 30g on blank . Just thought 8ft may be just the tool but is it soft enough for catching silvers ?

Try the 8' Matt as you have nothing to lose! If it is unsuitable( and i assume you are going to use it as a float rod) your 11' should be fine.

I bought a 10' drennan puddlechucker float rod for a particular venue where overhead trees and side bushes made casting almost impossible! The 10 footer was almost perfect! The club then really cut back the undergrowth and overhanging branches and i dont use it any more!:)

A new rod looms on the horizon methinks!

The 11 ft is a Avon top so I thought may be too stiff . My club are unlikely to cut anything back as not many do the rivers now justvmainky the lake and no matches on the river either..

I hate to think how many rods some have got I have 7 rods and misses thinks why do I need 7 but you try to explain to her .... not worth wasting breath ha ha

maybe Matt but you would have to be the judge of that! If neither are suitable that a new rod is necessary! Ask Santa!:)

look up Darent valley 0.75 tc specialist rod on this forum or google! It is cheap but far from nasty and very useful to have!;)

.......and at £450 it would have to be! I cannot justify that and i already have two nice 13 footers!

My next rod will be a Hardy Marksman Avon Specimin or specialist but only at the right price. There are 2 for sale at the moment but i dont want 2!;)

I've seen those two, no doubt the seller would split them but it is pick up only Mike...you'd want the one without the scratches n'all ;).
