Picked this up today,

<a href='https://postimg.org/image/3qe3g8a0l/' target='_blank'><img src='https://s18.postimg.org/435hmesah/EAF2_C381-_EBC7-444_E-8_D8_B-_B96_DFFB551_B8.jpg' border='0' alt='EAF2_C381-_EBC7-444_E-8_D8_B-_B96_DFFB551_B8'/></a>

It’s eleven foot long, three sections all built cane, looks like an Avon rod perhaps, unfortunately there’s no name on the rod, the rings look like they have been re whipped at sometime, not very well though, I’m thinking of using it a bit this year, and then stripping it carefully, revarnishing the rod, and re whipping the rings with some good thread, red with gold tips would look nice.

I just think it would be nice to go a bit traditional with this rod and a centrepin

Just an old man going back to the old times, and having a bit of fun, it would be something else off the bucket list.
If anyone knows this type of rod and could shed any light on it, I would appreciate it thanks.

Seth, does the rubber end unscrew ? I have a "Jack Hargreaves " rod in fibreglass with the same type of butt, the end is threaded to take a spike from what I have been told, going by the ferrules on your rod it looks as if it was a decent one in its time, not a mass import from china with straight brass ferrules,I know some "branded" rods have straight ferrules but a lot of unbranded ones flooded the market in the 60's. Have you checked the reel fittings or the aluminium end cap on the butt for a name,?

Just checked the rod again for a name, nothing on the reel fittings or the end cap, don’t think the rubber end cap comes of, if I twist any harder I might damage the rod.

The rod has been stripped and revarnished, so any stickers or writing have gone, pity really but it was part of an old chaps collection, who had died and it ended up in the secondhand shop were I bought it.

It certainly seems usable, and it will be a nice project next winter, I only paid forty pounds for it, so I think it’s a bit of a bargain, will certainly be giving it a trip out this summer , would like to know if anyone recognises it, have been looking online but nothing yet.
Thanks mark.

Just a chance it could be an Allcocks rod.

Certainly used that whipping colour and the butt section is of the type.

Another possibility might be Lee of Redditch (who merged with Allcocks and Youngs in 1965 to form Top Tackle, before being taken over by Shakespeare). It looks a lot like my Lee "Aquila", although that's 12' rather than 11'.
