Hi All

Im having difficulty sourcing replacement tips for a greys prodigy TX 12ft Specialist Feeder rod.

a few years ago I broke a tip and ordered a replacement from Billy Clarke’s in Sheffield.

I went on to break two more! This rod seems susceptible to a loop forming over the end causing it to bend double.

Anyway I tried to order the tips again from Billy Clarke’s and they informed me that greys will not supply dealers with spare tips anymore since they were acquired by pure fishing. And that I should order via the pure fishing eBay store compleatangler2014.

I also contacted greys and they sent a standard replay directing me to the eBay store.

hiwever, the eBay store deals in ex display and slight seconds. There are no replacement tips listed.

Do you have any ideas of where else I could try?

Matt

Try ringing round a few tackle shops such as Tacklesaver in Handforth and NWAC in Hindley now both part of Angling Direct. They appear to be having a clear out and may have spares.

In another post on feeder rods a suggestion is made that older Greys tips fit Drennen series 7 rods! Maybe the reverse equally applies! Also try eBay but if the tips become pricey it might be better to treat yourself and buy a new rod!:flypig:

Matchman Supplies( I think ) in Nottingham have lots of replacement tips for a wide range of rods and may be able to help!

They're a bit of a sod to match up with third party tips too. 3.7mm Ø and heavy rings. I got a couple years ago when I broke one, so I have a spare of the same weight now, but unlikely I'll break any more. I only tend to cast in once, no bites, so that's it for the day. Can't even remember where Ibought my spares from, but could have been fleabay.

I have 3 or 4 from a Greys rod.

I will have a look tomorrow. What weight are you looking for? ( these are 3 that I "borrowed " from my brother)
Happy to send you one or two.

Have you tried your 7 series ones?

Just had a look at my list of rods and tips and most are 3.55 or 3.5mm. The Shimanos for the Beast Masters come close (or used to) at 3.65. If Graham can't fix you up, you might have a bit of luck with a 3.55mm Daiwa one with big rings and give it a coat of fibre glass resin. Then use wet and dry to fine it down until it fits. I've done that before with an ABU one to fit a Korum rod and it's fine.
