I use washing up liquid stored in an old 35mm film tube and a small bit of sponge. Works well to make the line sink quicker. Good tip Chevin for those who didn't know.

Spray your spool with Mr.Sheen(silicon based).

Kryston 'Greased Lightning' makes light line float although it was designed for carpers to cast further but it makes trotting very smooth and easy.

I must have some Muciln left over from my fly days somewhere. Polish wise does it have to be Mr Sheen or will any furnisher polish do?.
I take it is the silicon within the wax that makes the line float.

Found it and a bottle of fly floatant. Will try the floatant first as its a liquid it should penetrate the line on the spool better
