Any good and for what specific purposes! The casting weight limits are very low!

I would imagine they're a sort of winkle picker rod Mike, the type of rod people would use on canals or small still waters.
I don't think you would find much use for one especially as you already have the 11ft version which is a light'ish rod anyhow.....unless ot was at a price that made it to good to say no!

Just looked at the info on one on ebay and it says its rated to 6lb line, deffo not the delicate rod I was imagining!
I may be wrong but I think Ste bink has one so he should be able to advise you on them Mike.

It's a real peach of a rod Mike especially if you like a really nice, light action for smaller bomb work.

It will chuck a small feeder up to an ounce over moderate distances and it's great for silvers and fish up to around 5lbs but having said that I've had double figure barbel off the river and upper double stillwater carp on mine and it copes beautifully at both ends in the baffling and logic defying way that Hardys seem to do.

Iirc Dave Coster was responsible for much of the prolonged testing and during which he landed two carp over 20lb which is quite amazing considering it's such a delight at the bottom end of the size scale too.

If there's one of my rods I really wouldn't like to be without it's this one, definitely a favourite of mine and in terms of pleasure and capability I couldn't recommend it highly enough, especially in the scenarios where I often use it such as on gravel pits with a light bomb over a carpet of balled in feed.

I know that it will cope, with care, with whatever comes along and will give the maximum amount of pleasure with the smaller stuff too... If there's one thing I would add is that I'd try and get your hands on some glass tips to go with the 1 & 1 1/2oz carbon tips that the rod comes with by default, I regularly use mine with a 1/2 ounce glass tip and it's lovely.

Bomb fishing seems to have gone out of fashion with many and I've never been really excited about tip fishing but this has really rekindled the magic of it all for me and I regularly use it for my Perching too.

If you get the chance of one I'd nab it without hesitation, you certainly won't regret it.

Great reply Steve!

Both Mike and myself have the 11ft hardy supero quivertip rods which (to me) feel like light rods. Do you have any idea of the line ratings on those rods or have you got the info on them?

Cheers Steve! Are the tips interchangeable with say the Supero range? I have an 11' foot feeder which I love and which has 3 tips from 3/4 oz to 1.5 oz!

It's range of casting weights ( 4 to 12 g) appear low to me ! Are these conservative?

Sorry mate I've never seen any official stats on the Superos, I bagged an unused original 12' Marksman Specialist Feeder just before Christmas and it's much more powerful than the bomb rod.

All Hardy tips are interchangeable between rods Mike, the casting weights are a little conservative but probably form an 'ideal' for casting without too much care, I've used up to around 30grm with mine but it's a gentle lob.

Don't do anything rash about the rod if it's the one I think you're looking at Mike, I'm just putting another post together for you regarding concerns with that seller.

Regarding my concerns about that seller...

This is the statement on their Ebay shop page:

2433z10.jpg

It's the 'slight second products' bit which concerns me as many of their rods appear to have what looks more like a spinning rod style butt ring.

This might not affect the performance of the rod in any way but given the sums of money they are asking for them I reckon they ought to be up front about it and disclose where and what these 'seconds' are, if in fact that is the case?

I've challenged them over a different rod in the past via Ebay messaging and they were evasive to say the least, not supplying anything which could provide any clarity and that made me even more suspicious.

The first picture is of the rod listed and shows the butt ring in question and in particular where the legs meet the ring around the centre of the circle, the second is of mine and how it should look...

I suspect many would never know the difference but I wouldn't like to think I was being hoodwinked, especially at or near what was the full rrp.

Very poor form on behalf of Pure Fishing imo and I wouldn't be happy knowing I'd paid that whack for a 'second'.

Just a heads up again on Pure Fishing's Ebay shop.

I have this rod and I have taken images of the rings as opposed to those on their listing and which yet again show rings which are more akin to spinning rod rings.

Not bad to say that they are asking a mere £329.95 and that's WITHOUT the cloth bag and cordura rod tube...

How they should look...

There's nothing to the effect of faulty/second in the description that they have listed, just this in the general blurb of item classification...

I would have thought the text I have highlighted would indicate that the seller is under an obligation to be clear about such things?

I have tried to report the listing but, as suspected, the provision within Ebay is woefully poor and you are cornered into a drop down menu of options which then bring up further limited options with none that I can see that suggest not specifying faults.

But then they'd hardly shoot themselves in the foot with the bullet of honesty now would they?

Buyer beware!

I thought I had bought this rod from Southside Angling based in Dublin! I agreed to their asking price and made payment by PayPal ! Payment was made and I awaited delivery! This company then said the rod was already sold and would refund me the money! I won't dwell on the legal position at this time save that I am in the right and they are in the wrong!
The company have said sorry but have not commented on their legal position! I await a satisfactory response but please beware of this company! I may well pursue this as a point of principle!

Sorry to hear about that Mike.

I suspect that was a listing error or the failure to de-list it from their website when it was purchased by someone else but it matters not and I agree with your sentiment.

I dealt with them several times over the phone when I was buying one of my Conquest 'pins and again when I ordered it online and they were 100% spot on with me.

I think it's a case of oversight and unfortunate circumstances but I hope you receive a satisfactory outcome.
