Do people use these and if so can you recommend one that will fit a 66cm non folding net! I looked at a some and for the price I would rather buy another net! My wife commented on the aroma in my car the other day and didn't like it! I told her my bream buddies would be most offended!:wh

I don't use a keepnet Mike but I do put my landing net into a carrier bag after each session mostly because its kept in my chair and its wet :wh when I get home it gets hung on the washing line.

You'll be lucky. Stink bags are generally a matchman's thing. They don't generally usually use landing nets over 24" (61cm) (longest axis). They also primarily make the watertight bags with keepnets in mind. If your landing net head is bigger than the biggest keepnet top ring, you've got very little chance of getting a bag big enough.

I put stinky nets in the bath with hot water and washing powder. However, I'm not married. I'm sure if you suggest this to your better half, she'll suddenly be a lot less concerned about the smell in the car.

Thanks Sam! Your post resolves the conundrum of how a landing net is measured as well as persuading me that another net, and a quick drying one at that, is the answer!

You're right about the wife though!

Don't assume anything with regards to the measurements of landing nets. There's no consistency in this regard when it comes to single manufacturers, let alone all of them combined. I simply took a tape measure to my biggest match landing net for the 24" I quoted. It only just fits in a keepnet bag from the same manufacturer. IIRC it was sold as being a 22" net. Notwithstanding such inconsistencies a 20" net is pretty big amongst the match crowd. 20" is certainly the biggest match type landing net that Drennan do. However, Drennan are not immune to measuring inconsistencies. The 24" Specialist net is 24" wide (at its widest point), it's over 26" front to back.

My 24" MAP spoon goes in the Middy keepnet stink bag. It just fits straight across with no keepnets in but would probably have to be in diagonally otherwise. Not recommending the Middy stink bag particularly. There are already pinholes in the internal waterproof coating although I suspect that's in part due to turning it inside out for drying.

The Korum latex spoon nets fold up and come with there own stink bag, they dry quickly and there’s very little smell. What I used to do was have a black bin bag, and put nets ,weigh slings etc in that and tie the top up, that helped.

Drennan's two and three net bags are 60cms x 55cms I believe,so a tape rule would tell you the good or bad news.

Be careful with stink bags and wet nets because they can transfer deseases. Depending on the size of the net use builders rubble bags or make a suitable bag from a green plastic groundsheet and duck tape. I have several nets which I alternate and totally dry off and net bags which are also alternated and turned inside out to dry. I either dry them in a green house or hang them from a hedge in the back garden.

I don't think you can have too many Mike :).
I've been meaning to get one of those nets for yonks now, I really fancy one so will getone, prolly the 26inch version as thats a sort of good all round size.....for me at least.

No, I never got there, in all honesty I forgot about until you just jogged my memory. Been busy all day anyhow and I wouldn't have fancied it in that sun and heat!

go to sports direct and buy one of their bags, about a quid, we used to use one for scales and weigh sling,

A proper eva stink bag for keepnets will cost from around 20 quid, I have a shimano that I can get 3 keepnets and 2 landing net heads in

Mike that dinsmores carp scoop net I have that is similar to yours fits in it no problem,

Agree with Seth. Use a black dustbin bag and chuck it. I have a suspicion that those sealed stink bags would harbour all sorts of nasties to transfer from one fishery to another. I bet there are those who leave them festering in one from one trip to the next.

John, my sealed eva stinkbag gets washed out after every trip along with any unused nets that have been alongside
the wet ones, the nets are laid out to dry and the bag is hung upside down to drain and dry,
Preston Innovations and possibly Garbolino did one with drain holes in the bottom and a two way carrying strap, You had the holes at the bottom so any excess water would go out, then when you got to your car you turned the bag upside dwn so it wouldn't leak. Not seen them for a while though.

Mark I wasn't suggesting anyone from this forum would be lax with drying but I bet some others are unfortunate;y.

I ordered the 30" Dinesmore collapsible shake and dry net which comes in a bag and was delivered today! It looks really sturdy and should be perfect for when a largish carp , barbel or bream is on the cards! £16 from Amazon! It's also light!

I have brought home a hessian mail bag from the office which should suffice as a bag for my other nets when they are particularly grubby! We have dozens at the office so if anyone who is likely to meet up with me wants one or two just ask!
