Vintage Abu Garcia Cardinal 55 plus spare spool
This is a very nice condition classic Abu Garcia Cardinal 55 with rear-mounted drag and a spare spool in great working condition.
It has a high speed 5.1:1 retrieve and silent anti-reverse. The spools are marked as “Totally corrosion resistant.”
All text and makers details are present and clear. A very nice reel to use or for the vintage Abu collector.
Comes with a vinyl Angling Times reel case.

I used to love my Cardinal 55’s when I bought them back in around 1983; and I still very occasionally use one of them when I’m surface fishing for Carp, and after over 35 years of use it’s still going strong.

But beware of loading heavy line under too much tension as one of my spare spools shattered because I did this once (probably my fault).

The same thing happened on two spare spools on my 55's too, shattered under tension.

Even so, the 54's and 55's were de rigour in the 80's.
