I thought of this thread as a light hearted but factually correct source of discussion! We have the Thames, Severn and Trent as our largest rivers but they all do not compare with the Congo! How would you tackle such a river if you had the chance to fish it? For the facts it's;

2922 miles long, from 1/2 mile to 10 miles wide and is up to 700 feet deep!!!

It is home to 686 known species of fish let alone mammals and reptiles! Some are monsters like the Goliath Tiger fish.

congo river fish - Google Search

It makes a humungeous pike look cute!

Would you trot, ledger or stick with that nice little river like the Dane!!!!

For tigers it's a lure, or live/dead bait.................and they certainly make a mess of the lures.

No, I haven't fished the Congo but the less imposing Gambia river a couple of times in the early 80's.................

It's a different world on continents with enormous rivers and giant fish! I am happy with mine on the whole!

I've seen a few hippos around the car parks on the Ribble..... Oh sorry they were the rather large anglers I mistook as hippos :lol::lol::scared::scared:

I bumped into a couple of Congo anglers on the Lower Derwent. You can't catch little grayling on their river, apparently.
