The Environment Agency is inviting local anglers and fisheries to one of three free fisheries workshops to be held along the River Severn over the next few weeks. There are 50 places available at each workshop on a first come first served basis. A number of speakers will give presentations on: <ul>[*]Access / Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) [*]Severn River Trust [*]Get Hooked on Fishing (GHOF), Young Anglers’ Project (YAP) and Coaching Events [*]Funding Opportunities [/list]There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and talk to the local Fisheries Team.

Douglas Only the EA could come up with this one, running workshops on a river as the season is coming to an end. Errr! Any coarse angler that fishes rivers and has an interest in riverswill be maximising their fishing time on the rivers come the back end.

Shakes head in disbelief at the ineptness of it.

This is not a dig at you personally either. Well, unless you were the person who thought it up, then it is!

I know, I know- and no I did not have anything to do with the set-up of these events.

The facilitation of said workshops would have been done by non-anglers, which by the way, is no excuse.

The poor old EA cannot win in some peoples eyes can they, how often have we heard the cry "what do the EA do for us for the money we pay in?" These events are held in my area and in fact there is one on the 7th of Feb i am going to. They are highly informative and worthwhile. Ours are well organised and the side benefit is that you get to meet and share ideas and information with other clubs and fisheries in your area. The EA keep the clubs updated with local issues and changes in legislation that effect us. Get off the case guys, if you want to go fishing go fishing, if you think you can get something out of the workshop go to that its your choice.
