OK, what is the ONE item of fishing kit can't you do without? It must be something you own and use, and only ONE item per person.

I'll start.

Mine is the ABU Suveran S4000 reel. Apart from my weighing scales its the only item of kit that I always carry. Use it with line fron 2LB for light float fishing up to 15LB for heavy barbel in snaggy swims. It has never let me down. It gets used most for margin tench fishing amoungst all kinds of lilies, weeds and reeds. The drag is fantastic and I simply don't understand why more people don't use one. The reel will easily see me out.

Well the rod reel and line plus hook and bait are rather obvious and without them fishing would be just sitting watching the water,so I'll go for my jewellers eye glass for examining knots and hook points.

Well Ron,

I suppose mine , must be my hook tier, without it I'm losted due to my thick fingers. Especially for 24,22,20 hooks.

ron, mine has got to be my bin, baked bean tin held onto my side tray with a bulldog clip, all bits of rubbish go into it including fag ends. it really is a usefull bit of kit (and keeps the banks clean)

Has to be a disgorger, I hate to see someone with their finger shoved down a fishes throat trying to get the hook free, I always carry 8 with me 2 of each size and 2 slamo type in case I loose any.

The thing I could not do without as the person I taught to fish 7 years ago, we have regular matches and he keeps me on my toes (wish I hadn?t showed him all my tricks). This is what fishing is all about.

LOL Ray, I wish a lot more people had your outlook. It get really jarred when I see discarded groundbait packets or old hook packets in amongst the undergowth.

I would like to agree with Rod, but without my trusty Graham Phillips 13' Tench I wouldn't catch anything. Its the first thing that comes out every time.

Flask o'tea/brewing kit. Even on those days when you blank or days when the going is slow, it never feels as bad with a cuppa in your hand.

It has to be my pocket radio
I would take my mp3 but I've killed so many radio's and walkman's I'm just not gonna bother.

Tea brewing kit. Oh and a packet of biscuits. Rich Tea in the summer and something chocolaty in the winter.

I have actualy been out one early autumn morning, walked the half mile to my swim, opened up my bag and found that I have left my reels at home. Had a cup of tea and a biscuit, watched the kingfishers for an hour, had another cuppa, picked up my gear and came home again. I've kept that quiet for a long while, for obvious reasons, but I needed to tell you to get the point across of how important the tea making kit is!

Nothing beats a good Marlboro and a strong cup of coffee, especially just as the sun is sinking on a balmy summers eve.

Mine USED to be my Harrison Interceptor, until I had a break-in a couple of months ago. I REALLY miss it! It was like a living part of my arm. No other rod is anywhere near as pleasant to use.

My fox stalker chair. Some might think im an old gimmer but a comfy chair improves any days fishing, and i havent used my seatbox since i got the chair 3 years ago.
