Are you booked in on St Johns Lake? I only ask because I just googled it and it’s the only one listed that stocks cats. If it is I can’t imagine you will need to cast mush more than 100m unless you fish to a far bank. IMO 2 ¾ test curve rods will do you fine as for line 12 or 15lb. I am sure someone will advise to the contrary.

Your basic Carp outfit will see you land the majority of the Cats in UK waters, you will need a big landing net and a long unhooking mat too.
Have a read of the Catfish social threads, as there were a lot of first timers to the cat world asking all the same sort of questions. It will be a real eye opener for you im sure.
Lets us all know how you get on.
Maybe you would like to join us at the Catfish social in July if you like it.

Lbac no so far from Linear have 3 cat venues http://www.lbac.co.uk/and a section of their website has links to other cat resources. In the same area (Leighton Buzzard) there's "Jones Pit" on Cemex "Special Venues" ticket that also has quite a few cat to offer <u>http://www.rmcangling.co.uk</u>
